The Doomsday Clock is warning the world that a total nuclear catastrophe is more imminent than ever before. This year’s unprecedented levels of floods, droughts, and fires, and accompanying loss of lives and livelihoods, should also ring alarms. So, where are the mass movements that are needed in response to these closely-intertwined twin existential threats—nuclear weapons and climate destruction? What are the psychological and social factors that prevent people from taking appropriate actions regarding those threats? What can we do to overcome the barriers to taking action on behalf of survival of the planet? Can we help create a mass movement?
Join us October 16, 2023, 7:00-8:30 PM Eastern (6:00-7:30 PM Central) for a lively panel discussion of these questions. Our excellent moderator, Claire Schaeffer-Duffy, and three notable speakers (Joseph McCabe, Joseph Hodgkin, and Savina Martin) will start the discussion with their own perspectives on the challenges and the solutions, followed by an opportunity for the audience to ask questions, engage in small breakthrough groups led by Mass Peace Action members, and then share their own recommendations for addressing the current barriers to sane action and moving forward.
